Marriage between one man and one woman is God's establishment. Christianity does not provide any alternatives apart from marriage of one man with one woman. Other versions are not considered to be marriage in Christianity. Christians reject all other forms of cohabitation invented by contemporary people (although all of them were known even in ancient times). Thus, there is a sole standard, established by God. Is better to call it a system. In this system you cannot change or improve anything. Let us examine the most important principles of Christian marriage, indicated in the Scripture.
1) The subordination of wives to husbands is the first principle. The question is not who is the smarter one, but who is the one to make the final decision, to take responsibility. The Scripture leaves the decision-making to the husband. What are the benefits of this? All arguing in the family stops, as there is no ground for it. The absence of arguments has a good influence on the relationship between the partners, and the children grow in a peaceful atmosphere.
Of course for a contemporary woman, even if she is a Christian, submitting to her husband is not easy. Recently a Christian singles center carried out a survey among Christian women of different confessions. The responses were different. Some did not understand whether it is necessary to obey in every situation. On the basis of the answers the following conclusion was made: as these Christians resign themselves to their Lord, so they resign themselves to their husbands.
2) The appeal to wives to obey their husbands is combined with the appeal to the husbands to love their wives. Love is, first of all, the husband's concern about his life companion, given to him by God. There is no need for high-flown words, instead, be attentive to your wife. Do be severe to her, but forgive her imperfections, do not make her answer for things she does not yet know how to do. She will learn.
3) The wife should not dominate over her husband even if he, for example, could not provide for the family at some moment, and everything depends on the wife's salary. The wife has to stand the test. She should preserve the respect for her husband, doing it not only for his sake, but also for herself and the children.
4) The child first of all learns to respect his family and to do justice to his parents. If in humanistic family the most important one is the child, the Christians emphasize God, then the parents, and only then the child. In this way obedience and modesty are fostered. Such an arrangement helps to overcome blind parent love, which prevents them from giving the child a proper upbringing.
